Our story starts on October 2nd, 2022. (My mum’s birthday for all who care; she likes chocolate, holidays & anything that’ll keep her warm if you’re short of gift ideas.) As a special birthday treat, she got to drop us off at the airport. My dad came too, but it wasn’t his birthday.
We’d left our house in Windsor a month or so before and had been staying with my parents since then. This had given us a chance to prep properly, dump some final items in their attic & save up a bit of extra spending money (A months rent in Windsor is not something to dismiss in your calcs!).
Super thankful that we were lucky enough to do this – without them it definitely would have been more complicated & more costly in the long run. Plus, we had a total blast over the summer with them.
Anyway, back to the trip.
We drove down from sunny windy Lincolnshire, stopping off at Windsor for lunch. The lunch wasn’t great, but not so bad they deserve being defamed, so I won’t say where. We took a final coffee in the centre and I popped into Waitrose for a wee & to buy the staff a parting ‘thankyou’ gift. (They’d helped us acquire some boxes for our move a few months back & had been super helpful for all our time in Windsor — a quick thankyou never goes amiss, do it more if you don’t already!)
& then, off to Heathrow.
Here. We. Go.
