The Last Hike.

Our last full day in Yukon, signified our last ‘real’ day in Canada. (We’d technically have another 1.5 days, but all of this would be travelling, so not sure how much it counts!)

Final Strava.
(3.0 is pace NOT length)

We were planning to leave our accommodation in the morning to squeeze in a last hike – we’d need to go via Driving Force to ask them for a few extra hours first, as we were supposed to return it at 3pm which was a tad too early. We got chatting to Lene before we left, so didn’t actually get out til midday. Fortunately, a lovely girl at the rental office extended the car for free though so we were successful on one front!

We headed up to Grey Mountain, following Lene’s book’s recommendation. Just shy of 5km later we’d finished our final hike.

We had another nice view & narrowly avoided a fight with a squirrel – so pretty successful. ✔️

Squirrel munching his hoard.

After dropping the car off, we headed to our airport hotel. It was a bit weird. Wouldn’t really recommend. (For the same price you can keep the car for an extra day & stay at the A Scandia House – definitely better value.) The airport is so small & quick to get through too, so you don’t really need to be that close to it, even if you do have an early flight.

Etienne then found us one final bonus hike (more of a walk really ) through hillcrest park on the way to dinner. We even managed to squeeze in a final few bum slides, although not the speediest! The dinner was spot on too – a big juicy burger & over-indulgent fries; great find!

And that was it, a last pint or two to wash down our Yukon adventure & we headed back to the hotel. The next morning we got up, lugged our bags to the airport & hit the skies.

Ciao for now Yukon! (Well, probably forever if I’m honest with myself…)
